► Esmeralda sells crystals that generate heat, which are popular trinkets to purchase in the colder months. But before she can sell them, they need to be imbued with warmth. The crystals can only be charged when held between the palms of two different people, and she'll pay 10 coins per crystal to anyone willing to help. She'll also let you keep one crystal of your choosing.
Additional info: The only way to charge the crystals to Esmeralda's specifications is by holding hands with another person with the crystal placed between your palms. Be warned! Some of the crystals are finnicky, and will not allow you to let go until they have been sufficiently charged.

THE HARBORS
► Restless are invited to pay their final respect (lol) to the members of the Hierarchy who were recently murdered. Some place small gifts on the funeral rafts, and archers successfully set them on fire as they're pushed onto the Tempest. Somber music is playing, and oddly enough, there's not one Ferryman in sight.Additional info: Once the bodies are embraced by the flames (to prevent them from potentially turning into Spectres), they stir, rise, and howl unhinged nonsense. Blueish apparitions escape from their mouths, corpses falling back onto the raft and rolling into the Tempest. If you ever wondered what a ghost might look like in the Netherworld, wonder no more, the first ones to ever be unequivocally witnessed! It is mostly believed that Restless who perish in the Netherworld ultimately join Oblivium's forces (very few believe otherwise), though in this particular case, their souls remain as angry spirits, which means everything you're probably thinking of: poltergeist, hauntings, possessions, etc.
RADIANCE
► Aneth is a renown painter in Stygia, and she's currently looking for art models. Nude ones, that is.Additional info: If you don't mind lying or sitting naked for hours on end, you'll be rewarded 100 coins, a set of brushes, paint, and a copy of the final painting.
THE BARRENS
► The smell of death and decay that plagues a portion of the Barrens might have already tipped you off. A long barrow there displays disturbing signs of activity; trees made of bone, unintelligible whispers, distant shrieks, etc. Visit Zevra at your earliest convenience if you can help. You will find her tending to the small shrine nearby.Additional info: Zevra explains that at first, small buds of bone broke through the earth, which later grew to the size of trees. Some Restless claim that during full moons, they can hear chants and screaming from the long barrow’s direction. You'll probably notice will-o'-wisps dancing between the morbid bone branches, and they'll attack if you get any closer than 30 feet.
The entrance to the barrow is a thick stone slab -- you can hear wailing from the other side. Using digging implements like pickaxes, you'll need approximately one hour to break through, and you'll be immediately welcomed by a swarm of bats. In the center, you'll find another circular stone slab, embedded into the ground. It's covered in glowing runes, visibly enchanted, a seal of sorts. Below, a Banshee has been carving away at the seals for a long time, now nearing her impending release.
1. If you break the runes and release her, she'll immediately attack. You can either run away or defeat her. If her claws scrape your skin, the wound will gradually expand and decay, giving you an undead appearance. It can be healed by applying mistletoe leaves to the original injury, though you won't be able to find any until December's event! Note that her wails are also terrifying, and might temporarily paralyze you.
2. If your magical abilities allow, you can also choose to reinforce the seals, and delay her release for a few more months. In both cases, you'll be rewarded 200 coins.

December - harbors
was this the funeral for the members of the Hierarchy that were murdered during the fall festival, or is this a funeral for those who were responsible for the imprisonment last month and got sacked?oops, nevermind, re-read doran's post again and saw that they weren't executed, they were just banished to the hinterlands. that solves that question!Additionally, if these angry spirits are now loose and can possess people, would Johanna here be able to exorcise them? Would she potentially be able to open a portal to somewhere else - Hell or otherwise - from the Netherworld, to send the spirit to a different place and free the person possessed by it?
Any and all info would be helpful!
no subject
Yes and no! With some perseverance, she'd be able to ultimately send the spirits...........somewhere. Probably not where she expects them to go, that being said, but they'd effectively vanish and free the possessed person, leaving puddles of blue dust behind.

now that I am free of board exam-ing, which was most of my December, I want to get all up in everything again which brings me back to my two questions from when the notice board first went up!
- last time I wanted to do open prompts I just made open TLs, but because I didn't shove them at people there was not much traction in getting replies to them. I need to work on my shyness but i also wanted to try a new tactic, so: are we allowed to make net posts about Notice Board tasks, as if our characters are in the midst of doing so? (I'm hoping to potentially net an assist, and an actual log, that way, but also just love the idea of interesting commentary!)
- as regards December's Barrens prompt ... if your character is, say, a bone mage, could they keep some fragments and make some of their own bone trees later >.> Harrow will be able to help reinforce the seal, but she'll be exhausted and require help from another PC to keep her energy up, because it's no fun if she can just do it but she is also in love with the bone trees. just a little bone tree as a treat hierarchy pls?

SERENE
► 1. Beware. A local hunter was found mutilated and hung on the broken branches of a tree a bow-shot from his home. Whatever creature killed the man also tore apart his hunting hound and destroyed the roof of his cottage. Harpies? They don't often dwell in Serene, but if you do find one, bring me its head. I'll pay you 10 coins, and I'll let you keep the feathers. An alchemist might give you a good price for them.— Professor Byrl
Additional info: Venture through Serene's woodlots and you'll eventually stumble upon a creature that sort of looks like a harpy. It isn't. It screams and it drools and it speaks in a tongue you can't understand, which in turn might make you feel a little dizzy--or a lot. And it laughs. Even as you severe its head, it laughs still; a representative of the Hierarchy snatches the head as you return your prize to Professor Byrl, giving you an additional 5 coins. They don't mention anything specific, but it's clear in the way they handle the situation that they'd rather you keep quiet.
► 2. Please help a poor woman. Rabbits are chewing my gardens to shreds. They tear through the fencing like it isn't even there. They must be stopped, or my crop of vegetables won't survive long. I can only pay 5 coins, but you can keep all the rabbits you catch.
— Myrtille
Additional info: Yes, you get to keep actual bunnies, a dozen of them!
MIRTH
► My father was lost, alongside my mother, with a pouch I need returned to me. I was told they were beset by Darklings near the casino. Our business is failing, my father's debts are being called in, and we are bleeding coin. Come to Bramblebed Inn, just follow the map drawn below. I can pay in room and a little coin. Please help me, I beg you.— Innkeeper of Bramblebed Inn
Additional info: Alicia will offer food and a room for a week, as well as 3 coins if you retrieve her pouch. You'll find a couple of Darklings on the casino's rooftop, excitedly examining the contents of the pouch: gems. If you share affinities with Darklings, they'll give you back the pouch in exchange for a kiss. If you share affinities with any other creature (or none at all), they'll dare you to perform one of these on the netherwork (ICly, they'll only give you ONE of the following dares):
1. post a video of yourself barking
2. post a video of yourself singing i'm a little teapot
3. tell your audience your best joke
4. confess one of your fears
Refuse or attack, and they'll flee with the pouch. Accept, and you'll get 2 additional coins
and tons of fun probably. If you enter the casino, you'll also find Alicia's parents, drunk; bringing them back will earn you an extra week at the inn for free. If you keep one gem or more, notify us here.SHADOWLANDS
► Hale's Chief Healer is looking for volunteers to gather scaleberries in the Shadowlands. They're a little difficult to find, often rotten and scattered around withered trees, though they're essential in his field of expertise, and he'll pay 30 coins for each bag of at least 1 lbs turned in.Additional info: Always watch out for Badaliscus in the Shadowlands, as well as ill-intentioned Reapers or worse, Spectres. It isn't rare for volcanos to erupt at random intervals, the rain pouring from the skies sometimes acidic. Run back to your door if you have no other choice.
THE BARRENS
► My friend's been a little careless. She’s dropped her favourite ring down a well in the Barrens. Won’t you go and get it back for her? The well is located in the ruins of an old chapel, guarded by two Gargoyles. You can't miss it. In exchange, I'll give you a Redeye.— Jessa
Additional info: It’s only 5 feet wide, meaning that a group would have to descend one by one. It’s slippery and crumbling, and descends almost 100 feet. At the bottom of the well, water half-fills a 10 feet square chamber, into which water filters through cracks in the rock. Under the water, the ring lies trapped between two rocks. The possibilities of a flood or a gargoyle attack are very real. Be careful.
A redeye is an Artifact, a beacon used for setting waypoints in the trackless Tempest. A pair of soulfire torches in relic glass spheres, they blaze with a light that can be seen up to a mile away through the froth and churn of the endless storm.

SERENE
► Frish has come across a sad spectacle of destroyed statues decorating the forest floor near her home. Statues that strangely remind her of people she once knew... She wants the creature responsible rounded up and killed, and is willing to pay 50 coins.Additional info: Characters proficient in survival can track the center point of the strange array of rubble to a cavern in a nearby cairn. They might well deduce that the likely culprit is a Gargoyle, but no! The culprit is just another Restless-turned-hermit. His cave is covered in easels, sculptures and broken statues. Paint is everywhere, including on him, and all he says if questioned is "I must create art!". His favourite sport is turning people to stone, painting them, and then smashing them. But not everything is as it seems. If you try to stop him, you'll soon realize that you can't touch him: he's nothing more than the simulacrum of a mage gone mad, who turned himself to stone years ago to escape his Shadow. The only way to make him disappear is to indulge your own Shadow and allow it to convince the man to leave. He'll eventually comply and vanish... but you know the risks. Be careful!
MIRTH
► The theater's owner has lost a small portion of his collection of horror movies, including: Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project, It, The Ring, and Cargo. He'll pay you 30 coins if you find them, and will also allow you to borrow them.Additional info: They aren't lost. They've been misplaced, and you'll find them in one of the theater rooms where a foreign movie is projected on the giant screen. It looks vaguely familiar -- like a nightmare you once had, maybe. Don't expect DVDs, though; you'll find a small object resembling an USB stick on the floor, which you can plug in your smartphone in order to watch the movies.
THE HARBORS
► Muscade is looking for fresh fish! She'll pay 10 coins for each fish caught!Additional info: You can try catching them with your hands, a fishing rod, a net, your teeth... Just be mindful of the water, which can be unpredictable even close to shore. Fortunately, the sea seems relatively calm these days (or calmer, anyway), and you might be able to spot groups of naiads waving and smiling at you.
THE HINTERLANDS
► A star crashed in the middle of the Hinterlands (approximately). Blacksmith Aripi promises sizable rewards upon delivery of star fragments. Search for a crater that a fireball might leave in the ground; you'll find the remains in the center.Additional info: You will find more information on the Hinterlands here. Keeping that in mind, you'll come across the impact site after a couple of hours of wandering in the foothills. A goatherd you meet along the way points you in the right direction, and you might notice movement in the crater; tiny elementals, otherwise known as Knights of the Broken Flame, watching over their blazing territories. They leave a trail of fuming ash and blistering cinder in their wake, and despite their tiny size, they prove to be quite fiery! [x]
If you struggle in any way with your Shadow, or if you're just inherently evil, they won't allow you to take anything. You'll be burnt to near-death if you insist and try to fight them, though it's possible to temporarily distract them with heroic tales of your choosing. Once you return a fragment to Aripi, she'll reward you with 200 coins; she'll also ponder, out loud, whether star-made items would endure without being soul-forged...
