hello! i just want some clarification on the hinterlands quest. can characters choose to keep the star fragment instead of turning it in for the monetary reward?

also d's player wants to know if you can try to kill aripi to get both the star and the money. i don't think this was a serious question but i am going to ask for her anyway because it's funny.
